The No. 5-ranked University of Iowa women's basketball team avenged its only loss of the season with a 77-70 victory over No. 16 Kansas State on Sunday. Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 32 points, including seven 3-pointers.

The fifth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes avenged a 77-70 win over the 16th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats to win the Women's Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday in Estero, Fla. Hawkeye star Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 32 points, her 40th career game with at least 30 points.

Clark's performance officially tied Antoine Davis' D1 college basketball record of 30 points per game set over the last 25 years. Davis set the record last season in Detroit, but Clark is expected to surpass him as she still has a lot of games left to play in her senior year. She has already surpassed the women's college basketball record (38 games) set by WNBA star and former University of Washington guard Kelsey Plum.

Earlier this month, Kansas State handed the Hawkeyes their first loss of the season in an evenly matched rematch that saw the lead change hands 10 times. However, Clark was outstanding in the clutch, sinking seven 3-pointers. In addition to his 32 points, Clark contributed six assists, five rebounds and three steals.

Already Iowa's all-time leading scorer, Clark currently ranks among the top 25 all-time in women's college basketball with 2,986 career points. Only 14 players have reached the 3,000-point threshold in women's basketball history.

It's still early in the 2023-24 season, but Clark already leads the nation in scoring. Last season, when she was named the Naismith Player of the Year, she ranked second in the nation with 27.8 points per game.

Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder also made history this weekend as her team picked up Iowa's 500th win on Saturday with a 100-62 victory over the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Sunday's win against Kansas State was also the 501st victory.

The Hawkeyes (7-1) will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1:30 p.m. ET against the Bowling Green Falcons.
